Title: Reassessing Parkinson’s Disease: From Early Detection to Integrative Treatment Approaches.

Bio: Dr. Medeya Tsnobiladze is a naturopathic physician practicing in Connecticut, with a focus on integrative neurology. Before moving to the United States, she earned an MS in Biophysics and trained in a Neuroscience PhD program; she went on to complete her naturopathic medical training along with additional studies in acupuncture.

For over 15 years, she has worked in integrative medicine, with a particular interest in neurodegenerative and autoimmune conditions, tick-borne infections, and neuroinflammation. Abstract: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is commonly recognized only after cardinal motor findings emerge, when substantial nigrostriatal injury has already occurred. This presentation reframes PD as a heterogeneous, multisystem synucleinopathy whose clinical expression reflects interacting biological, ecological, and biographical determinants. It integrates the current understanding of alpha-synuclein propagation, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, impaired proteostasis, neuroinflammation, and gut-brain signaling with practical strategies for earlier recognition and individualized care.

Participants will learn to identify prodromal and subtle clinical features—including constipation, hyposmia, REM sleep behavior disorder, autonomic dysfunction, mood changes, reduced facial expressivity, hypophonia, asymmetric bradykinesia, and early gait abnormalities—and to distinguish idiopathic PD from essential tremor, drug-induced parkinsonism, dementia with Lewy bodies, progressive supranuclear palsy, multiple-system atrophy, Wilson disease, and other secondary causes. The presentation also reviews the evolving diagnostic landscape, including alpha-synuclein seed amplification assays, skin phosphorylated alpha-synuclein testing, DAT-SPECT, neuromelanin and iron-sensitive MRI, plasma neurodegeneration markers, digital movement measures, and microbiome signatures.

A systems-based treatment framework is then presented as an adjunct—not an alternative—to evidence-based dopaminergic therapy. Emphasis is placed on exercise, Mediterranean/MIND dietary patterns, sleep and circadian restoration, constipation and microbiome-directed care, stress reduction, social connection, and reduction of relevant environmental exposures. Nutrient status, oxidative stress, toxicant burden, and selected infectious or metabolic contributors are considered within the limits of current evidence.

By expanding the clinical lens beyond late motor diagnosis and medication management, this presentation may change diagnostic reasoning, promote earlier recognition of PD and atypical parkinsonism, improve referral and workup decisions, and support more individualized interventions. These changes have the potential to improve symptom control, function, quality of life, and long-term patient outcomes.

Fascia, Meridian and Chakra: Intro to Overlooked Aspects of Physiology and Healing

Abstract: Conventional models of physiology are incomplete. The cybernetics behind homeostasis utilize domains beyond the mechanical and chemical. This presentation will introduce those domains and their relationship to the fascial system, which has recently become the subject of more intensive research. Terms and concepts such as ‘meridians’ and ‘chakras’ will be explained in relation to fascia – as well as the impact of environmental factors in both nourishing and disrupting this aspect of physiology. Finally, real cases illustrating these concepts will be presented. After understanding these domains of physiology, the remarkable results will not seem so remarkable.

He completed his clinical training in internal medicine at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he received the Harvard Medical School Class of 2012 Resident Teaching Award and the Daniel E. Ford Award in Health Services and Outcomes Research from John Hopkins University.

Scott Antoine, DO, FACEP, ABOIM, IFMCP

Dr. Scott Antoine completed his undergraduate training at the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after which he completed his doctorate at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an Emergency Medicine Residency and an Emergency Medical Services Fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He then served seven years of active duty with the United States Army as an Emergency Physician. Moving to Indianapolis in 2005 after his term of service, he worked as an Emergency Physician at St. Francis Hospital until 2019. In addition to his board certification in Emergency Medicine, he achieved board certification in Integrative Medicine through the American Board of Integrative Medicine in 2016. He also holds certifications in Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine and A4M. His daughter developed Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) in 2013. He and his wife Ellen, also a Functional and Integrative Medicine physician, were able to shut off the immune response, treat the infections and toxins responsible for her PANS presentation and bring her to full recovery. After his daughter recovered from PANS, he knew his specialty had found him. Since then, he has refined his process and has helped hundreds of children recover from PANS and PANDAS. In 2019, he successfully lobbied the Indiana legislature and helped pass a law which prohibits insurance companies in Indiana from denying coverage for medical care (including IVIG) for children with PANS and PANDAS. Larry Palevsky MD

Abstract: Chronic inflammatory conditions in children are at an all-time high. Much has been publicized about the factors that contribute to, and cause, increased levels of inflammation in children. The list is exhaustive, and is not limited to the following: air pollutants, water pollutants, soil depletion, food allergies & sensitivities, agricultural practices, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, infections, parasites, tick-borne disorders, mold, chemicals, dyes, preservatives, additives, food colorings, detergents, skin-care products, pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, electromagnetic radiation, cells phones, social media, addictions, stress, emotional, social and family issues, childhood traumas, parenting issues, and others. Nonetheless, there is one factor on which I believe we need to focus. And, that is, how we manage acute illnesses in children as a potential contributor to the development of chronic inflammation. Most often, pediatricians, family physicians, and other practitioners who care for children in a primary care setting, see acute illnesses in children in terms of an infectious etiology. When many children get sick, we hear, “something is going around,” and blame either bacteria or viruses as the root cause of their acute illnesses. As a result, the majority of these children are treated with suppressive over-the-counter medicines, antibiotics, and other pharmaceuticals. In this lecture, however, I will demonstrate that most acute illnesses in children may not be of an infectious etiology, and that using suppressive over-the-counter medicines, antibiotics, and other pharmaceuticals may, actually, be the incorrect treatments. I will explain how acute illnesses in children are effective, life-saving mechanisms to detoxify an excess amount of wastes, toxins, impurities, and inflammation from their bodies. Therefore, suppressing these acute illnesses with over-the-counter medicines, and prescription drugs, will only serve to stop their bodies from cleansing. Attendees will come to understand how the life-saving mechanisms are built into children’s immune and autonomic nervous systems, as they serve to appropriately and effectively complete the detoxification process for them. What might happen to the wastes, toxins, impurities, and inflammation, if children were to be prevented from excreting and eliminating these materials when their bodies are suppressed during their acute illnesses? A build-up of inflammation. Over time, this repetitive approach to using suppressive treatments of children’s acute illnesses will only serve to increase the circulation of more and more inflammatory materials, thus leading to chronic inflammation. We can never predict where in the body this build-up of inflammation may land. But, once we look at the laws of homeopathy, and understand the importance of bringing wastes, toxins, impurities, and inflammation out through the surfaces of children’s bodies during these acute illnesses, we might begin to treat their acute illnesses differently. The ultimate goal is to prevent the development of chronic inflammation in our children. Modifying the way we treat their acute illnesses may have a great impact on their resilience, and on strengthening their resolve to make sure chronic inflammation does not become of way of life for them.

When Dr. Erin Van Veldhuizen first started her practice, she wanted her primary focus to be on basic chiropractic, with some neurological emphasis. Title: Environmental Disruption of the Gut Microbiome: A Hidden Driver of Immune Dysregulation and Chronic Disease

Abstract: The microbiome is the community of a wide variety of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other microorganisms that inhabit the human body. The mycobiome is the much smaller but very important part of the microbiome consisting of the fungi. The gut mycobiome refers specifically to the fungal communities populating the gut. Both the microbiome and its subsidiary mycobiome are extremely important to the host body’s health. Environmental factors, such as diet, infections, and exposure to toxic chemicals, can have significant impacts on both microbiota and mycobiota. Because of the vital role the gut mycobiome has in maintaining homeostasis, alterations or disruptions in the composition and functions of both the mycobiome and the microbiome have been associated with a multitude of human health disorders, such as gastrointestinal maladies, metabolic diseases, and even neurological disorders. We now know that the composition and function of microbiota can be modified. The corollary to this is that their effects on health, metabolism and immunity can also be modified. This has generated increased interest in developing therapies that target the mycobiome and microbiome.

This presentation will discuss how different environmental factors such as pesticides, heavy metals, antibiotics and microplastics can affect our fungal and bacterial compositions and make our immune system incapable of properly managing its commensal bacteria. We will show that, collectively, disturbance of bacteria and fungi can induce or exacerbate a variety of inflammatory and autoimmune disorders via T-helper-1, T-helper-2, T-helper-17 and regulatory T-cell modulation. Humoral and cellular biomarkers associated with exposure to toxic chemicals that resulted in changes in the gut mycobiota and microbiota will be presented in the form of different case reports.

Finally, we will propose that patients with abnormal immune profiles against mycobiome virulence factors may benefit from various interventions, for instance, antifungal therapies, or nutritional interventions with selective elimination of molds and yeast antigens, including those used in food fermentation and other food processes.

He obtained his MSc and PhD in the fields of microbiology and clinical immunology from Bar-Ilan University in Israel with postdoctoral studies in comparative immunology at UCLA and tumor immunology at Charles Drew/UCLA School of Medicine and Science. His on-going research, spanning a 45-year career, focuses on the role of environmental triggers in complex diseases. Dr. Vojdani’s research has resulted in the development of more than 350 antibody assays for the detection of autoimmune disorders and other diseases. Of particular note are the arrays for autoimmune diseases that originate from the gut and manifest as attacks on the body’s own tissues or organs, including the brain. Title: Microplastics -The Problem and The Solution”

Abstract: Micro/nanoplastics are everywhere, including the human brain, vascular system, testes, ovaries, placenta and meconium. Micronanoplastics are not just inert polymers, they are a panopoly of literally hundreds of toxicants that include pesticides, solvents, and metals. These nanoparticulate superfund sites are finding their way into our bodies through our skin, lungs, and intestines. Approximately a teaspoon of our brains are micro/nanoplastics. Where do they come from? Our food, clothing, personal personal care products, water, and air. And the presence of microplastics in the body has been correlated with risk for stroke and MI as well as dementia and possible increased risk for colorectal and lung cancer.

A recent editorial in Medpage Today (Sept. 23, 2025) suggested that “it is time to warn our patients”. But what do we tell them? In addition to the obvious and necessary avoidance strategies, patients may be anxious about that teaspoon of plastic in the their brains and what has accumulated in the brains and bodies of their children. The capacity of the human body to eliminate micro/nanoplastics is virtually unknown. Small amounts are excreted in the urine but they’re not appreciable when compared to exposures. There are however solutions to this problem, we’ll explore the data and the possibilities in this lecture.

Bio: Dr. Patrick ND graduated from Bastyr University in 1984 with a doctorate in naturopathic medicine and has been in private practice as a state licensed naturopathic physician in Arizona and Utah for 35 years.
She is a published author of numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, a past Contributing Editor for Alternative Medicine Review, and recently authored a chapter in the newly released textbook Clinical Environmental Medicine (Elsevier 2019). Title: The Infection–Toxin Interface: Hidden Drivers of Chronic Illness

Abstract: Biofilms are now recognized as a dominant growth state for microbes in chronic infections, conferring antimicrobial tolerance, immune evasion, and persistent inflammation. Environmental toxicants—including heavy metals, pesticides, and mold-derived volatile organic compounds (mVOCs)—can further entrench biofilms by altering microbial signaling, matrix architecture, and host defenses. This presentation will cover emerging evidence that trace metals promote biofilm formation and tolerance; that pesticides reshape microbial communities and biofilm behavior; and that mVOCs/mycotoxins modulate fungal and bacterial virulence. These mechanisms are translated into practical, stepwise clinical strategies: staged detoxification that reduces metal and xenobiotic burden; targeted biofilm disruption (e.g., chelators, quorum-sensing inhibitors, enzymes); and timing/selection of antimicrobials to exploit windows of biofilm susceptibility—while safeguarding mitochondria, barriers, and the microbiome. Attendees will leave with a decision framework, dosing guardrails, and monitoring tools to apply biofilm-aware detoxification in complex, multi-exposure patients.

Abstract: Building on a well-received introduction to neural therapy that was delivered at the AAEM 2025 conference, Dr Nahas will present a more in-depth discussion of mechanisms and provide specific injection techniques. The key message is that blockages – also called interference fields – are important hidden lesions that should be considered for treatment in every patient. Donald Sprague MD

Dr. Sprague has had a long career in family practice, allergy treatment, and environmental medicine. His history includes eight years as a family physician in Beeville, Texas. In his practice there, he concentrated on primary care, with a special interest in obstetrics. During this time, he delivered 2,000+ babies, the last two being his own. It was during this time that Dr. Sprague first became involved in alternative and environmental medicine.

Between 1989 and 1992 Mr. Simon worked as an attorney in New York City medium and small size boutique firms doing complex commercial litigation. Between 1992 and 1994 Mr. Simon worked as head trial in house attorney for one of the largest real estate holding companies in New York City, the Estate of Sol Goldman.
